Method, and its limits

What the system does, stage by stage.

Two screens run on the same name in the same pass: an automated Shariah approximation, and a momentum read. This page describes what each stage produces, and where the account stops.

The pipeline

01

Universe

A working list of listed US equities the system tracks day to day. What is in it, and what is not, is a data decision, never a prediction — and it moves as our coverage moves.

02

Shariah screen

Each name gets an AAOIFI-style business and financial-ratio approximation, returning one of the states below. The screen runs before the ranking, so every name on the board carries a verdict — including “we could not tell”.

03

Relative strength

A percentile for how a name is trading against the rest of the tracked list, not against its own past. Because it is a ranking, it moves when the market moves and not only when the name does.

RS PERCENTILE
04

Setup detection

A letter grade for the shape of the setup, ordered A+ down to D. The grade is the whole of what we publish; what produces it is not described here, and is not described anywhere public.

05

Entry and risk framing

The terminal frames an entry level and the risk beside it, so a plan exists before a decision does. No arithmetic is shown here, no worked example, and nothing is sized to your account. The method looks for setups that develop over weeks, not days or years — roughly two to eight of them. How any one setup resolves is not something we predict.

06

Delivery

Today, delivery means you open the terminal and the day's work is already done. Per-account alerts are built but not switched on, so nobody outside the founders receives them — when that changes, this stage changes with it.

What we will not publish

What produces a grade stays on our servers, permanently and on purpose. We will tell you what a grade means and how to read it; we will not publish the recipe, and saying that plainly seems more honest than calling it proprietary and leaving it there.

☪ The Shariah screen

Every name carries a verdict, and we show you which. Unverified means we do not yet hold the evidence to complete that name's screen — a limit of our coverage, not a judgement about the company.

What each mark means

COMPLIANT
The business screen passes, and both financial ratios are present and passing.
REVIEW
Scholars differ on this kind of business, or it needs a content check. We flag it; we do not settle it for you.
UNVERIFIED
We could not complete the screen for this name, because evidence it needs is missing on our side. So we will not call it either way. It is not a fail and not a near-miss — the terminal's halal-only filter keeps Unverified names, labelled, rather than hiding them.
NON COMPLIANT
The business screen fails, or a ratio we could compute fails. Missing evidence never turns this back into a pass.
UNKNOWN
A placeholder kept for older stored records. The screen running today does not issue it.

Automated advisory approximation — not a fatwa or certification; verify independently.

A name shows ? when we do not yet hold the evidence to complete its screen: we gather that evidence one name at a time, so ? reflects how far our evidence reaches, not a judgement about the company.

Where our screen and others differ

Our screen reads what a business does, and what its balance sheet says. Where a business produces or distributes content, we flag it for review — but we do not extend that test to general-purpose platforms, and we do not screen the advertising those platforms carry. So Alphabet (GOOGL) and Meta (META) clear our business screen.

Screening services that do apply a content test to the platforms themselves reach a different answer on these two names. We are not saying they are wrong, and we are not saying we are right: this is a difference of method on a question scholars answer differently, and it is yours to settle rather than ours. We would rather you meet that difference here than find it later.

This is a screening tool, not a religious ruling. Verify with a qualified scholar or a certification service before you act on it.

What it does not do

It places no orders and connects to no broker. There is no execution path in the product at all — not a live one, not a simulated one — so nothing you read here becomes a trade unless you place it yourself.

Educational market research — not advice or a recommendation to buy or sell. Nothing here is tailored to your circumstances, and no adviser-client relationship is created. We are not registered as an investment adviser, dealer or broker in any jurisdiction.

The Shariah screen is an automated approximation of an AAOIFI-style test, run against vendor fundamentals that are sometimes missing and sometimes stale. It issues no ruling and carries no endorsement from any scholar or certification body. Verify with a qualified scholar before you act on it.

The analysis runs on end-of-day data. The intraday prices on the board are last-trade prices from a single exchange, not the consolidated tape — they are supplied by third parties, they can differ from what your broker shows, and they are sometimes wrong. Full-tape and streaming quotes are not included and are not on the near-term roadmap. If you need to act on the tick, this is not your tool.

On a session where nothing meets the bar, the system produces nothing and sends nothing. That is deliberate and it will not be “fixed”: a tool that finds a setup every single day is a tool that has stopped discriminating.
